UNCASVILLE, Conn. (September 6, 2018) – The New England Black Wolves will open the 2018-19 National Lacrosse League season, the team’s fifth, on December 8 at the Rochester Knighthawks.
That will be the first of three games in December for the Black Wolves, with a December 15 stop at the Georgia Swarm before heading home to take on the defending champion Saskatchewan Rush on December 28.
“We’re very excited to start the 2018-19 season,” Black Wolves general manager Rich Lisk said. “This is a big year not just for the Black Wolves but for the NLL with two new expansion teams and New England’s five year anniversary. We’re looking forward to opening the season on December 8 in Rochester, but we really can’t wait to see our fans in the den on December 28 for our home opener.”
The Black Wolves are coming off a third consecutive postseason appearance in 2017-18, advancing to the East Division Semifinal before falling to the Rochester Knighthawks. The team returns a prolific scorer in veteran forward Kevin Crowley, who led the NLL with 51 goals last season. Also returning in 2018-19 are forwards Callum Crawford and Stephan Leblanc, both key contributors to the team’s success last season.
“We have made some changes to our roster and we are excited to start the acclimation process with our group,” Black Wolves head coach Glenn Clark said. “The league has expanded into some excellent markets and I’m expecting a very competitive season across the league.”
New England will host Saturday night games against the Swarm on January 19, Knighthawks on February 9 and San Diego Seals on April 6. Sunday opponents include Buffalo on January 27, the Philadelphia Wings on February 17, Toronto Rock on February 24, Colorado Mammoth on March 3 and Knighthawks on March 31.
