Black Wolves Sign Stephen Hoar

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (March 29, 2016) – The New England Black Wolves have signed defenseman Stephen Hoar to a one year contract.

Hoar has played in 163 regular season games in 11 NLL seasons. Selected 23rd overall in the 2002 NLL Entry Draft by Rochester, Hoar played five seasons for the Knighthawks before signing with the Toronto Rock. He played five full seasons with Toronto, then split the 2014 season between Toronto and Philadelphia.

“Stephen’s a great addition to the team,” Black Wolves assistant general manager Rich Lisk said. “Stephen played with us in Philadelphia and is someone we’ve been eyeing for a while. We talked over the summer but it didn’t work out. But with his work commitments and schedule, it fits and we’re excited to have him with us.”

The 6-foot-2 defender has 133 career points (50 goals, 83 assists) while winning 49.2 percent (1523-of-3093) face-offs taken. In 2006, Hoar won a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Field Lacrosse Championships.

New England also placed defender Jim Purves on injured reserve with a lower body injury on Tuesday.

The Black Wolves are in action next on Saturday, April 2nd against the Colorado Mammoth at Mohegan Sun Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET.
