Black Wolves Take Win In Toronto

Toronto — Kevin Buchanan scored his fourth goal of the game with 2:27 left in regulation, and Sheldon Burns followed up with the game winner in overtime as the New England Black Wolves edged the Toronto Rock 10-9 Friday night at the Air Canada Centre.
It was the fourth overtime game of the season for New England (4-6), which snapped a two-game losing streak.
Burns converted on a pass from Kyle Buchanan, who collected the last of his four assists setting up the game-winner. Burns also had two assists, finishing with a season-high three points.
Kevin Buchanan had four goals – including New England’s league-leading 10th short-handed goal of the year – and three assists while Kevin Crowley had two goals and four assists. Rookie Seth Oakes had one goal and one assist. Reilly O’Connor and Daryl Veltman also scored goals. Evan Kirk had 47 saves on 56 shots.
In a game that featured seven lead changes and seven ties, neither team led by more than two goals. The Black Wolves have now won three straight against Toronto dating back to last season.
Stephan Leblanc had a team-high 5 points for the Rock with one goal and four assists. Brett Hickey and Reid Reinholdt each scored twice for Toronto (5-4).
