UNCASVILLE, Conn. (December 20, 2017) – The New England Black Wolves announced today that they have traded transition player Sheldon Burns to the Toronto Rock along with a second round pick in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft.

In exchange, the Black Wolves receives Stephan Leblanc and a third round pick in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft.

In eight seasons with the Rock, Leblanc has picked up 601 points on 249 goals and 352 assists while also scooping up 648 loose balls. The 2010 NLL Rookie of the Year, the 6-foot-1 forward had a career-best 88 points in 2014 and won a Champions Cup with Toronto in 2011.

Selected by New England in the third round, 22nd overall, in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft, Burns saw action in 49 games with the Black Wolves. He had 47 points on 21 goals and 26 assists while scooping up 254 loose balls and causing 48 turnovers.

“I want to thank Sheldon Burns for all he has done for the New England Black Wolves organization,” General Manager Rich Lisk said. “It is always hard trading a quality player like Sheldon, but you have to give up quality to get quality. In Stephan LeBlanc we get one of the premier lefthanders in the NLL and adding him to an already potent offense is something that we are thrilled about. I believe fans will be very excited to see Stephan in a Black Wolves jersey and all of us are very excited to welcome him to the Pack.”

The New England Black Wolves will be back in action on Saturday, December 23rd at the Saskatchewan Rush. Game time is set for 9:30 p.m. ET.
