Black Wolves draft pick Myles Jones scored the game winning goal in overtime and was named Most Valuable Player of the MLL All-Star Game last weekend. The forward, who plays for the Chesapeake Bayhawks, split the money he received as MVP amongst his teammates. He had four goals and one assist in the game.
Also participating in the MLL All-Star Game was Black Wolves forward Kevin Crowley. He had two goals. That followed a week in which he had four goals and four assists for eight points for the Westminster Salmonbellies in the Western Lacrosse Association.
Also in the WLA, Sheldon Burns had one goal and one assist in two games last week for the Victoria Shamrocks. Rounding out the New England trio playing out west, Matt Spanger had one assist in a victory for the Burnaby Lakers last week.
In Major Series Lacrosse action, three Black Wolves players currently sit at the top of the scoring ranks. Reilly O’Connor leads the league with 67 points, followed closely by Shawn Evans at 66 points and Kyle Buchanan with 61. Last week, O’Connor had four assists in a victory for the Brooklin Redmen.
In three wins for the Peterborough Lakers, Evans had five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Buchanan picked up four goals and 14 assists for the Lakers in those three games as well. The final New England member of the triumvirate spending time with Peterborough this summer is goalie Evan Kirk. In two games played last week, he recorded two wins. In six games played, Kirk has 152 saves and a goals-against-average of 9.25.
Fellow goalie Doug Jamieson currently leads Senior A in wins (15), goals-against-average (5.81), saves (514) and save percentage (.850). He’s seen action in 17 games for Six Nations.
