Veltman Returning To Black Wolves

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (June 7, 2018) – The New England Black Wolves announced today that Jim Veltman will be returning to the team as the offensive coordinator in 2018-19.

Veltman, who spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the defensive coordinator for the franchise, took the previous season off to travel and volunteer with his family in Africa and Europe.

“We are very excited to welcome Jim Veltman back to the Black Wolves as our new offensive coordinator,” New England Black Wolves General Manager Rich Lisk said. “Jim’s Hall of Fame career needs no explanation and we are excited to have him back behind the bench. We feel that his extensive lacrosse background, combined with his teaching abilities and being a true student of the game, gives us the edge that we need to take the next step as an organization.”

Inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in 2009, Veltman won eight NLL championships during his 16 year career with the Buffalo Bandits and the Toronto Rock. The first recipient of the NLL Sportsmanship Award in 2002, Veltman was named league MVP in 2004. He captained the Rock for 10 seasons and led the league in loose balls in 14 of 16 seasons played.

New England finished 9-9 during the 2017-18 regular season and was eliminated in the East Division semifinals at Rochester.
